Kelp Strips

Our Kelp strips have been hand harvested along the Dorset coast. The pack contains 20g. The species is Laminaria digitata, also knows as Oar Kelp. It can also be referred to as Kombu Kelp, especially in the east. The variety within the Kelp family is popular for culinary use. A simple Dashi stock can be made with a strip of kelp and hot water. We use it nearly every day for broths, stocks and more innovative forms of popular western dishes. Kelp is known to have higher traces of Iodine, which is important to note if you suffer from over/under active thyroid. It is a great source of vitamins and minerals. If harvested correctly, it can also be a very sustainable part of the human diet.
